In recent years, stable but slow economic growth in most regions and overcapacity in the shipping market have led to numerous challenges on many trade routes in the liner shipping market in 2016. Shipping conditions were particularly tough in the second half of 2016 as fuel prices for ships rose, with rates even lower than in 2009. The investment in these vessels shows our determination to develop the container business. At the same time, we hope to achieve economies of scale on east-west trade routes by expanding our fleet." Finally, he revealed that the new ships would only be delivered in 2017.
