Introduction to Pvoc Certification in Kenya
On July 15, 2005, the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Kenya issued a decree, stipulating that products on the controlled list to be exported to Kenya should provide a "Product compliance" certificate at the time of customs clearance, proving that the goods meet the technical standards and regulations in Kenya.
On November 15, 2008, Kenya Standards Authority (KEBS) officially authorized the implementation of Product Compliance Assessment scheme (PVoC), and obtained the full authorization of KEBS to issue Compliance Assessment certificate (CoC) agent service. Certification services that are authorized by the Kenya Standards Authority to issue compliance certificates in 18 regions worldwide that export to Kenya.
Scope of project control in Kenya:
Control products are roughly classified into:
Food, textile and apparel products, steel products, hand tools, construction materials
Kenya PVOC certificate processing process:
1. Submit IDF and product test report (in English) or factory Quality system ISO in English + Factory quality inspection report in English, packing list, proforma invoice, product pictures, packaging pictures and PVoC application form to China Conformance Certificate Acceptance Office (DW), a third-party organization authorized by the Kenyan government.
(Note: Import Declaration Form(IDF) is applied by the Kenyan importer in the local government when confirming bilateral trade. It is one of the necessary documents for batch inspection in Kenya.)
2. The third party shall review the documents and arrange inspection of the goods after the approval. The inspection mainly involves visual inspection, and the inspection scope is whether the surface quality, quantity, packaging, marking and shipping mark of the goods conform to Kenyan standards. (Audit data must be consistent with the bulk goods)
Kenya PVOC certificate processing cycle:
① Audit time: 2-3 working days (according to the number of product names, audit time may be extended)
② Inspection time: according to the inspection department and the specific itinerary of the customer to set the site inspection date.
③ Certification time: After passing the inspection, the draft will be given to the customer for confirmation in 3 working days.
Notes for handling Kenya PVoC Certificate:
1. Product, internal and external packaging label and shelf life

Bagged products such as food, medicine, cosmetics, etc. need to mark the quantity of each bag, production date, shelf life. The expiration date of the product on arrival in Kenya must be 75% or more.
2. Fake products
Even if the quality of counterfeit products is up to standard, they cannot be certified.
3. Motorcycle
All used motorcycles must comply with Kenya KS1515:2000 standard, some special types of vehicles such as ambulances, fire engines, etc., are not applicable to the "right hand drive" and "service life" requirements.
4. Fumigation certificate
According to the memorandum document of Kenya Plant Health Inspection Service (KEPHIS) dated 27 July 2009, all products that are wood packed from untreated logs are required to be fumigated and certified before being shipped.
